The story

A second Detouche card from a grander address up the same street — the house literally moving up the rue Saint-Martin, and its printed paper keeping pace with more elaborate ornament. Read side by side with its sibling card, it is a business biography in two engravings. This is what the trade called horlogerie et bijouterie: watches and jewelry as one profession, and the letterhead itself as the first proof of the shop's precision.
